How To Get To The Island
Drummond Island is located off the eastern tip of
Michigan's Upper Peninsula, 45 miles east of the Mackinaw
Bridge. If traveling north on I-75, you would
continue over the Mackinaw Bridge, staying on I-75 for an
additional 15 miles. Exit Highway M-134 to the
East. You will travel through the villages of
Hessel and Cedarville, and then come to the Village of
DeTour. At Detour, you turn right at the blinking
yellow light, and proceed one block to the "ferry line."
Visitors may come to the island by any type vehicle,
or even directly on snowmobiles. For those arriving by
car or snowmobile, a 32-vehicle car ferry, the Drummond
Islander IV operates throughout the winter months.
The ferry handles all size vehicles - everything from
logging trucks and semis to individual snowmobiles.
Because of the number of vehicles going to / from the
island each day, the ferry maintains a very convenient
schedule with departures at least once every hour.
The trip to Drummond lasts only about 10
minutes. Enjoy the ride!
